We are looking for a Fuel Cell System Engineer with proven a fuel cell or electromechanical systems design and testing environment. The ideal candidate will be the one capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with pro-active style. The successful professional will join our Product Development team, working closely with our Principal Engineer for Product Architecture and interfacing with our software/controls, test, integration, and quality teams to ensure designs are delivered to customer requirements.


Loop’s nature as a rapidly growing green-energy company will also require the successful candidate to demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit to help foster a dynamic and innovative work environment.


The successful candidate will:

  • Perform design calculations to determine performance requirements of sub-systems and components
  • Develop, verify, and use system models to predict system performance for new product development and new application reviews
  • Evaluate fuel cell systems and component performance at prototype level and in customer vehicles, troubleshoot problems using structured problem-solving methods
  • Deal with overall system requirements from customer and business
  • Develop system design concepts and review design drawings and specifications
  • Perform risk analysis using tools like DFMEA, P-Diagrams, ASIL
  • Preparation and review of technical documents including test procedures and product manuals
  • Document system concept using drawings, specifications, control logic diagrams and P&ID diagrams


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of applicable work experience in a fuel cell or electromechanical systems design and testing environment
  • Occasional travel to customers or suppliers may be required
  • Must be legally qualified to work in Canada and travel abroad


Considered an asset:

  • Direct experience working with fuel cell stack, system DV testing or field support
  • Controls programming or systems modelling experience using Matlab, Simulink
  • Experience working in an automotive OEM or powertrain supplier


Physical Demands:  


  • Work in test lab, occasionally lift and move up to 10 kg
