Our rapidly growing product development team is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with a manufacturing focus to build on our patented eFlow® technology in designing future generation fuel cell engines as we scale-up for volume production. Reporting to the Engine Team Lead, the Mechanical Design Engineer will own engine component designs from conception to product validation. Position Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for mechanical component design, development and documentation of Fuel Cell engine components, with a focus on Design for Manufacturing.
  • Develops designs based on requirements for volume production in cooperation with suppliers based in North America, Europe, and/or Asia.
  • Leads selection process of manufacturing methods and suppliers based on functional requirements, cost targets, volumes, and timelines.
  • Supports the procurement process, including evaluation of suppliers and their MFG capabilities, budget setting and forecasting
  • Assists quality control process during First Article (FA) evaluation and part acceptance.
  • Creates and reviews 3D models, drawings, specifications and related documentation.

 Position Requirements:


  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5-10 years of industry experience transferring prototypes into production parts
  • Strong engineering principles, particularly in manufacturing methods and materials
  • Good FMEA skills (proven record of implementation an asset)
  • Experience with DFM, GD&T and tooled plastic and metal parts for low to medium volume production
  • Experience in supplier selection and management
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling required (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Structured problem-solving skills (8D, 5-Whys)

 Other key assets:


  • Previous application of design for manufacturing and cost-reduction strategies (VA/VE, DtC, etc)
